  • Posterheroes 2026: Still Human Invites Creatives to Reimagine Humanity in the Age of AI – Apply by July 31st ✨ Artificial intelligence has rapidly become part of our everyday lives. It writes, generates, recommends, predicts, and increasingly shapes the way we communicate, consume information, and make decisions. But as AI becomes more deeply embedded in society, one question grows ever more relevant: what remains uniquely human? This question lies at the heart of Posterheroes 2026, the 15th edition of the international social communication poster competition. This year’s theme, Still Human, invites designers, illustrators, artists, and visual communicators from around the world to explore humanity and human diversity in an age increasingly influenced by artificial intelligence. Rather than taking a position for or against technology, the brief encourages participants to investigate the complex relationship between people, algorithms, creativity, responsibility, and identity. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dNg_4By4

  • In C/O Vienna Magazine: The Car Issue, the automobile is dissected as a symbol of freedom, status, desire, power — and contradiction. Through art, interviews, and bold editorial storytelling, the magazine asks what our enduring obsession with cars reveals about us and where that relationship is headed. Spanning 226 pages and printed bilingually in German and English, the magazine approaches the car as a cultural paradox: seductive and deadly, empowering and destructive. Even the physical object reinforces this idea. A scratch-off cover and the scent of asphalt transform the publication into a sensory experience, blurring the line between editorial content and conceptual design. A thought-provoking read for anyone interested in design, print culture, and the objects that shape our society. • Before Instagram squares, before collectible packaging, before brands fought for attention on supermarket shelves, there was the humble matchbox. Small enough to fit in a pocket, inexpensive enough to be disposable, and visible enough to be noticed dozens of times a day. Over nearly two centuries, these tiny cardboard boxes evolved into surprisingly rich canvases for graphic design, illustration, typography, political messaging, cultural storytelling, and commercial branding. What was first a simple vessel for carrying fire became a remarkable archive of visual history. And perhaps the most impressive part? Designers managed to communicate entire worlds on a surface often smaller than a business card. Read the story of how the matchbox became one of the world’s earliest and most enduring miniature advertising spaces 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dWU8emZW #matchbox #graphicdesign #illustration #advertising

Did you know the same colour can whisper or overwhelm? At scale, it becomes confident. Reduced, it turns gentle. Surrounded, it shifts again. Nothing changes to the colour itself. Except how we use it. In our next Pergraphica Full Spectrum Feels webinar, guest speaker Laura Jane Boast will guide us through how designing colour means designing intensity in paper design. 📅 25 June 2026 🕚 11:00 CET / 10:00 BST → Curious? • Celebrating 10 Years of PERGRAPHICA®: A Decade of Inspiring Design, Print & Creative Collaboration ✨ Ten years ago, PERGRAPHICA® entered the world with a simple yet ambitious vision: to create a premium design paper that wouldn’t simply carry ideas, but become an integral part of them. Fast forward a decade, and the paper has become a familiar favourite among designers, printers, publishers, and, needless to say, at Design & Paper as well. As Stephanie Kienapfel, Head of Marketing and Business Development in Uncoated Fine Paper at Mondi Group, explains: “When we created PERGRAPHICA®, our ambition was to give designers a paper that becomes part of the idea itself, not just the surface it is printed on. Ten years on, ’10 Years in 10 Days’ is a way to celebrate the community of creatives, printers and partners who have shaped the brand, while reinforcing why premium paper continues to matter in a digital-first world.” It’s a sentiment we couldn’t agree with more. Great design doesn’t end on the screen — it comes to life through material choices, thoughtful printing, and the tactile experience that only paper can offer. Read more and watch the beautifully produced anniversary film that revisits standout projects and partnerships while reflecting on the journey from digital concept to tangible printed object 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dZMGweWx

  • In design, permanence is often treated as a virtue. We are taught to create timeless identities, enduring packaging systems, and visual languages robust enough to survive years of market shifts. We obsess over consistency, durability, and longevity. Every guideline, every specification, every carefully chosen detail is intended to ensure that a design remains exactly as it was envisioned. But what if not everything needs to last? What if some of the most compelling design experiences are the ones that slowly disappear? Design has always been more fragile than we like to admit. Paper yellows. Inks fade. Packaging crumples. Adhesives fail. Surfaces scratch. Brands evolve. Even the most carefully crafted identity systems eventually become artefacts of a particular moment in time. Yet much of contemporary design practice is dedicated to resisting these realities. • When a film inspires a book, the result is often a conventional companion publication with production stills, a chronological narrative, and behind-the-scenes anecdotes. But the newly published "Árva – Film Book" truly refuses to act like one. Created alongside László Nemes Jeles’s Oscar-nominated feature film Orphan, the limited-edition 336-page publication takes a radically different approach to classic film books. It transforms the cinematic process itself into a tactile, interactive printed object, rather than simply documenting it. The publication was conceived from an original idea by cinematographer Mátyás Erdély ASC, HCA, and developed by artistic director Szabolcs Barakonyi together with book designer Zalán Péter Salát. The creative team chose an associative structure for the book, allowing visual connections to emerge across time, place, and meaning. As Barakonyi explains: “While searching for connections between the images, we quickly abandoned the film's chronology, allowing freer image reading to prevail over the usual linear reading order.” The result is a publication that mirrors the fragmented nature of memory itself. Yet, for paper and print enthusiasts, the book's most surprising element may be its use of removable image stickers integrated directly into the publication. Made of Yupo® Tako, the stickers reference the working methods of filmmaking itself, echoing the repositionable notes and markers used during script development and production planning. • Few subjects bring people together quite like food ❤️ It is ritual, memory, comfort, celebration, and connection all at once. These themes have long been at the heart of illustrator Maggie Cowles‘ work, making her first picture book, Table, feel like a natural extension of the visual world she has spent years building. Across the book’s pages, readers encounter bustling meals, spontaneous gatherings, family moments, and festive celebrations. The illustrations are packed with visual details that reward repeated viewing, encouraging children to explore each spread, while adults may find themselves reflecting on their own memories connected to food and shared meals. Chose Commune describes the book as “a celebration of food not only as nourishment, but as memory, comfort, storytelling, and community”. Read more at 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dU-ztNmq
