ماذا لو كان عندك دقائق فقط... دقائق تقنع فيها أشخاص مستعدين يسمعوا فكرتك، يسألوك أصعب الأسئلة، ويقرروا إذا في فرصة تستحق المتابعة أو لا. قريباً... شيء مختلف قادم لمنظومة ريادة الأعمال في اليمن.

Two major reports on #Yemen's economy landed in April and May 2026: the International Monetary Fund 2025 Article IV consultations report (the first since 2014) and The World Bank Group Yemen Economic Monitor Spring 2026 ("Pushing Against the Tide"). Together they paint a more nuanced picture than the standard crisis narrative: the economy is stabilizing, but on borrowed time and borrowed money. A few things worth noting from the data: ▪️ The pace of contraction is moderating sharply — from –9.3% in 2023 to between –0.5% (IMF) and –1.5% (WB) in 2025. Another modest contraction is expected in 2026 before a slow recovery from 2027. ▪️ The CBY-Aden's August 2025 intervention package — caps on FX access, the ban on foreign currency in local transactions, revoked exchange-house licenses — combined with Saudi budget support, took the Yemeni rial from YER 2,905 to ~1,600/USD in GoY-controlled areas. The macro institutions are not absent. They are working but in an extremely difficult context. ▪️ The new GoY cabinet (February 2026) has adopted a comprehensive fiscal reform plan that the IMF has explicitly described as in line with its advice — covering revenue mobilization, market-based FX, electricity sector reform, and AML/CFT. The IMF resuming Article IV after 11 years is itself a signal of restored institutional credibility. ▪️ At the same time: oil exports remain halted since 2022 due to Houthi attacks, 57% of households had inadequate food consumption in February 2026, and the UN's 2025 response plan was only 29% funded. The story we are seeing emerge from the reports and data is not "Yemen is collapsing." It is also not "Yemen has turned the corner." It is: a fragile macro stabilization is being held together by the Central Bank in Aden, Saudi support, and a new cabinet's reform commitments — and the window to convert this into durable recovery is narrow. For donors, IFIs, and policy actors: the binding constraints now are not generic "state fragility" abstractions. They are specific — oil exports, fiscal revenues, exchange rate stability, electricity tariffs, and humanitarian financing. Each one has a concrete entry point.
