About us

The DC Abortion Fund helps pay for the abortion care of anyone living in or traveling to the DC Metro region, without restrictions or requirements. DC is a vital access point for the entire East Coast, so we help break down the legal, financial, and geographic hurdles that abortion seekers, near or far, are forced to face—all thanks to the power of mutual aid. Alongside our sibling funds, national organizations, and clinics around the DMV, we work to supersede any and all systemic barriers to abortion access. With the support of a single-digit staff, a tenacious board of directors, dozens of volunteers, and a progressive community, DCAF is proud to serve as a vital resource and mobilizing force for the local and national movements for abortion access.

  • We are in the final stretch of Fund-a-thon and we have a 30K match through the end of May! Our goal is to raise $100,000 (or more!) for abortion access in DC. Ready to tap in? Here are your pathways: ⭐ Join an existing Fund-a-thon team, or, make a single donation to our goal here: https://lnkd.in/gx4VPk2B ⭐ Get a ticket for My Body, My Festival 2026 where every dollar is going right back to your neighborhood abortion fund: https://lnkd.in/dJJYsRYi We love you! • We are recruiting! We're looking to add 5–10 Case Manager Volunteers to our team. Please note: This is DCAF’s most time-intensive volunteer role. We are seeking individuals who have 3-4 hours of availability on weekdays between 9am-9pm (especially Mon & Tues!), capacity to take one weeklong shift about once a month, and show up for occasional training & DCAF events (10-15 hours a month total). Applications close on 2/13. Learn more + apply: https://lnkd.in/eJJPX8PT

  • EMERGENCY REQUEST: We have a $15,500 funding gap and roughly 24 hours to fill it. Our caller has an appointment scheduled for Wednesday, giving us until EOD Tuesday to close the gap. January is notoriously our busiest month of the year, and we’ve already gone over budget every.single.week this month. We know this community can rally together to close this very large gap in this very small window of time. Any donation amount can help! Donate here: https://lnkd.in/eCJHqy4Y

  • WE HIT OUR MATCH GOAL! You raised $30k for abortion access. With our match, you *doubled* your impact—getting us to $60k this month alone. …Which begs the question: Can we get to $100k? We have less than TWO days left in 2025. Before we bid farewell to this year, can we hit six digits? Let’s do a bit of abortion access math: $100,000 = three weeks of abortion funding. We fund between 70–85 people per week, so $100k helps us over 250 people. To help us fund abortion in 2026, donate here: https://lnkd.in/g_zhAkMZ

  • The 2025 DC Abortion Fund Annual Report is live! This year, you raised a staggering $1,575,111 for abortion access, aiding 3,126 callers. Within its contents, you'll find: ✓ How DCAF supports callers from the Southeast. ✓ Why abortion bans push people further into pregnancy (and yes, we have the stats to prove it). ✓ How we needed a jaw-dropping $9,556,324 to fully fund every caller. ✓ How we scrape together funding in just 5.8 days (a 1.7 day improvement from last year). ✓ How we support bodily autonomy with an average pledge of just $531—without big philanthropy dollars. Read the full report, here: https://lnkd.in/eZCbKtNq

  • This Giving Tuesday, we’re setting a goal as high and mighty as our rage. And we’re giving ourselves until next Tuesday, December 9th, to reach it. In one week, we aim to raise a staggering $38,000—equal to our weekly budget. This is, without question, the highest Giving Tuesday goal ever set by DCAF. January is, notoriously, the busiest month of the year for abortion funds. In 2025, we fielded 464 calls in January alone, pledging a jaw-dropping $145,435. To keep our lines open and give an extra week of abortion funding in 2026, donate here: https://lnkd.in/ghyQN5zN

  • "I'm buying at DCAF 30th Anniversary Party ticket for my friend who has been furloughed." This idea came from one of our fabulous 30th Anniversary Party committee members and we absolutely LOVED how this simple and beautiful act of care encompassed the three things we have been reminding you all year long:  💫 DC has been through a lot this year, but we always deserve good things.  💫 DCAF, along with all the mutual aid organizations in the District, need dollars and engagement from our supporters to keep doing our crucial work.  💫 We keep us safe. We take care of us. We are here for one another in love & in rage. Do you have a friend who would love to come to DCAF’s 30th Anniversary Party but has been impacted by federal employee layoffs or the current furlough due to the government shutdown? Consider buying a ticket for that friend as a radical act of care for not only them, but for all abortion seekers living and traveling to the District. https://lnkd.in/g_6P4MG2

Do you love DC & believe in true bodily autonomy FOR ALL? Join the DC Abortion Fund board! Apply by 11/10: https://lnkd.in/gZBg3syS

We're looking for some new board members at DC Abortion Fund (DCAF). Apply by Nov 10! Message me if you're interested or have questions! I've had the profound privilege to be involved with DCAF as a fundraiser, volunteer, and cheerleader for the past 14(!) years, and currently serve as VP of the Board. We are looking to build out the skillsets and perspectives represented in our group, so we are especially interested in seeing applications from people with experience in financial management, nonprofit governance and compliance, fundraising and major donor engagement, or working in an abortion clinic. We also would love to bring on new board members who have previously received funding from DCAF or another fund, or who live or have lived in communities that represent the majority of people DCAF serves: Black, brown, and low-income people in DC. Please get your applications in soon, and share with anyone in your network who you think would be a good fit. #boardofdirectors #reprojobs #strategicleadership #boardmember #washingtondc
