This unique adaptive reuse project is a cornerstone of the ongoing revitalization in the vibrant North Kansas City community. Our design strategy focused on creating an environment that is both welcoming for clients and highly collaborative and inspiring for staff. Key design elements include: Sustainability and Aesthetics: We employed a sustainable design strategy by exposing the existing vaulted wood and steel structure, utilizing the warm wood texture and the contrasting steel trusses to create beautiful, authentic aesthetics. Flexibility and Collaboration: All spaces and furniture were specifically designed to be flexible and adaptive, ensuring the office can meet both current and future needs. Transparency and Light: Maximizing daylight and transparency were key priorities, creating a bright and open atmosphere throughout. The final result is a beautiful, balanced workspace that achieves harmony among sustainability, flexibility, and cost effectiveness. We are excited to announce that DAU, along with its engineering consultants team, were selected to design the new VA outpatient clinic located in Beaumont, Texas. The 64,000 SF clinic will provide state-of-the-art healthcare services to our veterans in the Beaumont area. The design is inspired by the rich architecture of the region. The sweeping curves of the port and the historic stone structures, like the iconic Mildred Building, were a major inspiration for the design. The clinic design integrates this vernacular architecture’s rich history and blends it into a modern sleek form. With over 25 years of experience in VA healthcare system design, the DAU team creates unique and innovative facilities for our veterans.
