Install and startup are underway at Highview Middle School in New Brighton, MN. This two-well geothermal system is taking shape, and once complete, will deliver high-efficiency heating and cooling with a fraction of the footprint of a traditional system. For a school campus, that means less land disturbance, lower long-term operating costs, and a system built to perform for decades. Another big step toward #GeothermalEverywhere in Minnesota schools.
Great couple of days hosting our friends from CMTA, Inc. and Christopher Newport University. Yesterday started with a site visit and a technical deep dive at Darcy HQ, then wrapped up the right way: a Twins walk-off win at Target Field in the bottom of the ninth. Tough to script a better ending. Today we're back at it, bringing the group through a couple more active site visits to see Darcy technology at work in the field. Good partnerships are built on more than technical alignment. They're built on time spent together, in the field and outside of it. Midwest Mechanical Solutions Case Study Series: Carleton College Student Housing Phase 3 – Parish House Midwest Mechanical Solutions is proud to serve as full mechanical contractor on this innovative retrofit project in Northfield, MN — marking the first installation of a Darcy Solutions groundwater system on Carleton's campus. As part of Carleton's decarbonization journey since 2010, this project addresses a key challenge: groundwater flow beneath campus was limiting the heating capacity of their existing geothermal field. By harnessing that same groundwater through the Darcy system, this project reduces boiler dependence and creates a rare side-by-side comparison between Darcy and conventional geothermal technology — on the very same campus. New state. New partner. New project. 🤝 The Darcy team is proud to be working on the Union County Ag Center — our first project in the state of Ohio, and our first in partnership with Trane Columbus. Alongside our drilling partner Moody's of Dayton, Inc., we're installing a groundwater-based geothermal system that includes a convertible well design, where a design well is converted directly into a production well to maximize efficiency and minimize site disruption. From the Midwest to the coasts, projects like this one reflect the breadth of work happening across the Darcy portfolio at any given time.
