  • Today is World Password Day, but the conversation around identity security is changing fast.   Strong passwords were once considered best practice. Now, more businesses are moving towards Passkeys and passwordless authentication to reduce phishing, credential theft, and account compromise.   Why the shift? ✓ Phishing resistant: Passkeys cannot be entered into fake websites or intercepted like traditional passwords. ✓ No reusable credentials: Passkeys use cryptographic authentication instead of shared secrets stored on servers. ✓ Better user experience: Biometrics and device-based authentication make secure access faster and simpler for users. ✓ Lower business risk: Password reuse, weak credentials, and credential stuffing remain some of the most common attack paths in cyber incidents.   For businesses, this is more than a technology trend. It is part of a broader shift towards stronger identity security and modern access control.   Passwords are no longer enough on their own.   The future is passwordless, and organisations that adapt early will reduce risk while improving user experience.   #WorldPasswordDay #Passkeys #Passwordless #CyberSecurity #IdentitySecurity #DataProtection #CyberUnlocked

  • 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮, 𝟰–𝟭𝟬 𝗠𝗮𝘆.   This year’s theme, “𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲”, is a good reminder that privacy is not just policy, it is how organisations respond when something goes wrong.   Privacy and cyber security are tightly linked. Strong security reduces the risk, but how you handle incidents, complaints and disclosures is what builds or breaks trust.   We are proud to support Privacy Awareness Week and the push to strengthen how organisations handle personal information and resolve privacy concerns.   If you collect or process personal data, this week is a good prompt to ask: Are your controls effective, and is your response process building trust or eroding it?   If you are not sure where you stand, the OAIC checklist is a good place to start: https://lnkd.in/gvRysUvD   #PAW2026 #PrivacyAwarenessWeek #Privacy #CyberSecurity #Trust

  • 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 🌐 At CyberUnlocked, we believe a safer internet starts with shared responsibility, especially as online risks continue to evolve. 🫱🏻🫲🏻 In Australia, stronger protections for children and young people are now in focus. New and emerging rules place greater responsibility on platforms to design age-appropriate experiences, improve privacy settings by default, and limit harmful content. Schools and families are also navigating clearer guidance around device use, social media access, and digital wellbeing. This year’s Safer Internet Day is a timely reminder that technology should support learning, connection, and creativity, not put young people at risk. 5 simple ways to support a safer online world: ✔️ Talk early and often with children about online behaviour  ✔️ Set clear boundaries around screen time and apps  ✔️ Use parental controls and privacy settings  ✔️ Encourage kindness and respectful behaviour online  ✔️ Report harmful or inappropriate content when you see it ✅ Small actions, taken consistently, make a real difference. Let’s continue working together to build a safer, more positive digital future for the next generation. 🔐 Learn more at eSafety.gov.au/SID #SaferInternetDay2026 #SID2026 #CyberUnlocked #OnlineSafety #DigitalTrust #Australia #CyberSecurity

  • Protecting personal information is a business responsibility, not just a technical one. This Data Privacy Day, CyberUnlocked is encouraging Australian organisations to take a practical look at how personal information is handled across their organisation, not just how it is described on paper. Key actions every organisation should be reviewing include: 🔹 Using strong, unique passwords and enabling multi-factor authentication 🔹 Keeping systems and software up to date to reduce exposure to known vulnerabilities 🔹 Remaining alert to phishing emails, unexpected links, and unsolicited requests for information 🔹 Limiting access to personal and sensitive data to staff with a business need, supported by security awareness training 🔹 Reviewing and updating your privacy policy, and ensuring day-to-day practices align with what your policy states Australia’s privacy laws place clear obligations on organisations to collect, use, and protect personal information appropriately. Gaps between policy and practice are one of the most common causes of regulatory findings and reputational damage. Small governance improvements today can prevent costly incidents, investigations, and loss of trust tomorrow. #CyberUnlocked #DataPrivacyDay #PrivacyAwareness #CyberSecurity #AustralianBusiness #2026

𝗔𝗜 𝗜𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿 Cybercriminals are no longer relying on technical skills alone. Many are now using AI to carry out attacks, create malware, run fraud schemes and even pretend to be skilled professionals. This means that people with very little experience can now cause the same level of damage as a full cybercrime team. For businesses, the threat landscape is becoming more complex and harder to predict. In our latest blog, I explain how AI is being misused, share real examples of AI-driven cybercrime and highlight why organisations need to better understand their risks. • React2Shell is a critical vulnerability, but it is also manageable if you respond quickly and systematically: • Understand whether you are exposed  • Patch or update affected system  • Add temporary protections where patching is delayed  • Review logs and monitoring for signs of misuse  • Make sure the work is documented as part of your normal security and risk processes If you are unsure whether your organisation has been properly protected against React2Shell, ask. That one action alone will often reveal whether this has been investigated, assessed and if needed the necessary treatment commenced. #CyberSecurity #RiskManagement #Leadership #React #NextJS
