Nigeria's digital health financing sector has grown steadily since 2014, now home to 12 active startups spanning digital insurance, healthcare financing, claims infrastructure, and alternative payment models. The sector's earliest entrants — WellNewMe and Wellahealth (2014) — were followed by Reliance Health, Curacel (YC 22), and FettleGroup in 2017. A second wave emerged in 2019 with Casava, Rigo, and Hadiel Health Coop, before BETTAHEALTH joined in 2020. The most recent entrants — Noacare, Paycient Finance, and HealthVest — launched in 2023. Across the subsector, more than $62 million in funding has been disclosed to date, making it Nigeria's most funded healthtech category.
