We're joining the CapitalSage Holdings group 🚀 🚀

Four weeks ago, I posted that Chimoney was winding down. Today, we signed an agreement to be acquired. CapitalSage Vantage Limited, a subsidiary of the CapitalSage Holdings group, has entered into an agreement to acquire Chi Technologies Inc. and its subsidiaries. CapitalSage Holdings is a multinational group with operations across the United Kingdom, the UAE, Nigeria, Kenya, The Gambia and other countries. Upon closing, Chimoney will become CapitalSage's first payment entity in Canada. I want to tell the story of how this happened because I think it matters for other founders. When I announced the wind-down in May, I was honest about what went wrong. We built real infrastructure but never solved distribution or for liquidity. What I did not expect was what happened next. Within days, CapitalSage reached out. Their Group CEO, Abiola Bawuah, spent over 25 years in banking across Africa, most recently as CEO of United Bank for Africa's operations across 20 countries. Their founder, John A. Alamu, built CapitalSage from a N100,000 microlending operation in 2014 into a conglomerate spanning fintech, agribusiness, manufacturing, and healthcare across three continents. These are serious people building serious infrastructure. They came to Toronto this week. We signed the agreement today at OneEleven Innovation Hub. Abiola and John flew in for the signing ceremony. On Friday evening, we hosted a private dinner with 20 business leaders, financial services executives, and community leaders to mark CapitalSage's planned entry into Canada. Here is what the agreement provides: Every investor who put capital into Chimoney will be settled in full upon closing. Every person who believed in this company when it was just an idea will get their money back. That was non-negotiable for me. How you close something matters as much as how you build it. The team will participate in the transaction proceeds. The people who built the product, ran the operations, designed the interfaces, and wrote the code will be recognized. The Chimoney platform will continue to operate and grow under CapitalSage. I will be leading the transition to relaunch the platform, re-engage clients, activate the US corridor, and hand over operations to the CapitalSage team. The transaction will close in phases to accommodate Bank of Canada re-registration requirements under the Retail Payment Activities Act. We are committed to executing definitive transaction documentation and completing the acquisition in a compliant manner. Thank you to CapitalSage team for believing in what Chimoney built and for the conviction to move quickly. Thank you to the advisors, mentors, and community who supported me through this process. Thank you to every investor, every client, every developer, and the entire Chimoney team. And thank you to Jennifer, who invested in Chimoney a week after we started dating and has been with me through every part of this journey. The next chapter starts now.

In Payments, especially in Agentic Commerce and Micropayments driven by autonomous systems eg a future where AI agents make payments using Interledger, we need a different way of authorizing these Payments. This paper introduces the Open Agent Passport (OAP) specification, an emerging standard I developed for issuing DID-compliant Passports (credentials) to AI Agents. A live Deployment of OAP is available in Bytedance's (creator of Tiktok) Deerflow enterprise AI project. https://lnkd.in/epdiixXD OAP is also live in Chimoney's infrastructure with thousands of Wallets already created.

  • As AI agents grow more autonomous, one question becomes unavoidable: can we trust them? Trust, in this context, begins with identity. Without a verifiable identity, an AI agent’s actions are effectively invisible. Organizations cannot reliably determine which agent performed an action, whether it was authorized to do so, or whether its behavior can be proven and audited after the fact. At scale, this lack of identity turns automation into a material risk rather than an advantage. This is why Level-4 (L4) identity assurance matters. In our latest article, we explain what L4 assurance truly represents, how it differs from lower levels of identity verification, and why it is essential for deploying AI agents in regulated, high-risk environments such as finance, healthcare, and legal systems. • While 2025 saw the first agents go live in isolated teams, 2026 is the year they move into the operational core. With 40% of enterprise apps now featuring task-specific agents, we’ve shifted from "experimenting with bots" to "scaling a digital workforce". However, most payment and identity systems were designed for humans, not agents. In regulated environments, this creates emerging operational, compliance, and security risks as agent adoption grows. Chimoney is building the infrastructure needed for this next phase of the agentic economy. Our platform provides AI agents with wallets, verifiable digital identities, and policy framework to operate within programmable governance and compliance controls. 🔗 In our latest article, we explain what 2026 really means for AI agents and why Chimoney is ready for it: https://lnkd.in/d-rzjMMC

The best part of year end is finally setting the out-of-office reply and stepping away. Business is quiet for most, but the emerging machine economy is just waking up. AI agents are the first truly 24/7 employees that do not need a holiday calendar. They offer a virtually unprecedented opportunity to keep value flowing even when the human workforce is offline. In my new research, The Autonomous AI Technology Stack: 3 Pivots for Tech CEOs, I detail the infrastructure required to seize this. Client link: https://lnkd.in/g4x6WfA4 For example, success requires a dual focus. Too much attention is falling on the agent-as-seller, and we must get ready for the agent-as-buyer. This likely means enabling capabilities with machine-native wallets. There's already vendors like Chimoney and Nevermined helping make autonomous transactions a reality. It won't be long before we can trust machine intelligence to maintain momentum while we recharge with our families.
