Carthera® has developed a proprietary device called SonoCloud®- a groundbreaking medical device that emits ultrasound to temporarily increase the permeability of the blood vessels in the brain. By using SonoCloud®, the therapeutic efficacy of new and existing therapies can be unlocked and harnessed to improve the treatment of a wide range of brain diseases: oncology indications (glioblastoma, brain metastasis) or neurodegenerative diseases (such as Alzheimer’s Disease, ALS).   • Today is Glioblastoma Awareness Day. But awareness doesn’t simply mean knowing the facts — that 13,000+ Americans will be diagnosed with glioblastoma this year and that the median survival is nine months — because there is not yet a consistently effective treatment. Awareness means taking time to think about the human stories like Vincent's, impacted by those statistics: patients battling the odds, loved ones navigating unimaginable uncertainty, caregivers working tirelessly, and clinicians fighting for better answers. Today and every day, we’re proud to stand with everyone affected by glioblastoma.   • Many potentially effective drugs for glioblastoma already exist. So why haven’t outcomes improved? The problem is getting them to the tumor: the brain just won’t let them in. The blood-brain barrier is remarkably effective at keeping toxins out. But it also prevents more than 95% of small-molecule drugs and virtually all large-molecule therapies from reaching their targets within the brain. If we can solve the drug delivery problem, we have potential to unlock a new era of brain medicine — not only for glioblastoma, but for many brain diseases where drug delivery remains the greatest challenge.
