  • The UK healthcare investment landscape is being redrawn. As NHS England is folded back into the Department of Health and Social Care and the Government's 10-Year Health Plan accelerates the shift from hospitals to community-based care, operators and investors face a very different operating environment. In the latest edition of LaingBuisson's HealthcareMarkets, Candesic Managing Partner Dr Leonid Shapiro, Principal Jack Zeng and Director of Content David Farbrother examine what this "Great NHS reset" means in practice. The article explores: • Why recentralisation creates new political, commissioning and procurement risks. • How workforce constraints will shape investment decisions. • Where the biggest opportunities lie - from neighbourhood health infrastructure and community care to private medical insurance growth and regional clinical networks. • What private providers need to do to succeed in a more state-directed, community-delivered healthcare system. For investors, corporate operators and healthcare leaders, understanding these structural changes will be essential as capital and strategy adapt to the next phase of UK healthcare. These are issues we're helping healthcare operators and investors navigate every day. If you'd like to continue the conversation, please get in touch here on LinkedIn or email enquiry@candesic.com. • The The Royal College of Radiologists and NHS hosted their second Global AI Conference last week, bringing together industry leaders in London for a fascinating discussion: ‘Human + Machine: clinician-led AI for tomorrow's healthcare’. Engaging key speakers included RCR President Penny Dash, and Minister for Health Innovation and Safety Preet Kaur Gill. Across the two days, discussions moved beyond whether AI belongs in healthcare, turning to how it can be deployed responsibly, at scale, while keeping clinicians firmly at the centre of decision making. Candesic managing partner Dr Leonid Shapiro was in attendance. His key takeaways include: • AI is moving from pilot projects to scalable deployment, with cloud platforms making end-to-end radiology AI solutions easier to implement. • AI can now safely identify many normal X-rays autonomously, reducing reporting workloads, while MRI and CT capabilities continue to advance. • AI-assisted radiology report drafting is rapidly becoming mainstream, with many providers launching new solutions. • Scaling AI successfully will require standardised data and images, while ensuring clinicians remain confident in their own judgement. The pace of development since last year's inaugural conference has been remarkable. As healthcare organisations continue to explore responsible AI adoption, events like the RCR Global AI Conference highlight both the opportunities ahead and the practical considerations needed to translate innovation into better patient care. At Candesic, we have extensive experience supporting organisations in this area.
