This week, a #CIO asked me a question that stuck with me. We already have a risk scoring system. Why do we need something different? I didn't answer immediately. Because it's a fair question. On the surface, all risk scoring systems look the same. They flag anomalies. They assign scores. They generate reports. But here's what most of them miss. A 100 MB file download at 2 AM by a contractor is not the same risk as a 100 MB file download at 2 AM by a CFO the night before his board meeting. The numbers are identical. The context is everything. Most systems don’t actually lack data. They lack connected, real-time context. Signals exist across tools, logs, and systems but they’re rarely stitched together at the moment a decision needs to be made. That’s the real gap. The challenge isn’t scoring risk. It’s reconstructing context across users, behaviour, timing, and intent. AI helps here, not because it scores better, but because it can connect patterns, learn behaviour, and surface subtle deviations that static systems miss. Bytemonk is working on this exact problem, rebuilding context at decision time rather than after the fact. And the deeper we go, the clearer it becomes how large this gap really is! When organizations move from flat risk scoring to contextual models, alerts not only improve but also become fewer, sharper, and truly actionable. And teams stop chasing ghosts and start tackling real threats. #DataRiskManagement #DataGovernance #RiskIntelligence #DataSecurity #Infosec #CISO #CTO #GRC #DataProtection #BFSI
