  • Great products are created through strong collaboration 👕 🤝 This week, our Managing Director Carolin Klar and Simone Klump, Head of Product Development, spent two and a half days with our Product Development colleagues in Łódź. The visit focused on reflecting on the successes achieved over the past months, discussing current styles and trends, identifying opportunities to further strengthen collaboration, and creating space for personal exchange. For Carolin, who last visited Łódź three years ago, the trip offered a unique opportunity to see how ideas and initiatives that were set in motion years ago have evolved. She was particularly impressed by the team's passion for the bonprix brand, its strong commitment to quality, and the exceptional technical expertise that has helped drive continuous improvements across the assortment. From her perspective, the progress is clearly visible in the products themselves, especially when it comes to fit, quality, material selection and durability. She also emphasized the important role Product Development plays in supporting bonprix's positioning as a fashion brand for women aged 40 to 60. Understanding the needs and expectations of this customer group and delivering quality that exceeds expectations at an attractive price point remains a key priority, with the Polish team making a significant contribution to that ambition. As Simone Klump summarized: “Our collaboration across borders works exceptionally well because we are united by a shared passion for creating great products. A huge thank you to Monika Zwierz and the entire team for your expertise, commitment and dedication every single day.”   Another highlight of the visit was Carolin's second On Site Event, where she represented the Executive Board and shared updates on bonprix's current performance and strategic priorities. The session included a lively Q&A with colleagues on site as well as almost 200 international team members who joined remotely. The visit reinforced what makes successful product development possible: strong partnerships, open exchange and shared ambition across borders. By bringing together different perspectives and expertise, we continue to strengthen our products and deliver on our promise to customers every day!

  • 🎙️ Exchange, inspiration and learning from one another are essential parts of driving innovation in retail. Whether it's at industry events like K5 - Future Retail, conferences, panel discussions, networking events or in podcast conversations, we strongly believe that sharing experiences and perspectives helps move the entire industry forward. That's one of the reasons we appreciate formats like the EHI Retail Insights Podcast, hosted by the EHI Retail Institute. The podcast brings together retail leaders and experts to discuss current challenges, emerging trends and practical solutions from across the retail landscape. We are always delighted when bonprix experts have the opportunity to contribute to these discussions, share insights from our day-to-day work and offer a behind-the-scenes look at how we approach current business and marketing topics. In the latest episode, our CMO Dr. Nicolai Johannsen joined host Anja Borberg to talk about our 40th anniversary campaign, the opportunities and limitations of AI in marketing, and the trends currently shaping the future of our industry. A big thank you to Anja and the EHI team for the engaging conversation and for creating a platform that fosters valuable exchange and knowledge sharing across the retail community.

  • What if the most valuable customer feedback comes from people who don’t buy from you yet? 🛍️    We challenged ourselves and brought together some non-customers and over 90 colleagues for an interactive discussion in our headquarter in Hamburg.    💡The goal of this “Expert Exchange” event was simple: to listen and step outside our own perspective. And the level of engagement throughout the session was remarkable. We wanted to better understand:  • how non-customers discover and shop for fashion today,  • what they expect from a modern customer experience,  • what their honest perceptions of the bonprix brand are.    Colleagues from across the headquarter brought thoughtful questions and showed genuine curiosity to better understand consumers' perspectives.    What stood out most was how openly and honestly the participants shared their views — thanks to market research expert Jens-Ole Boelsen’s thoughtful moderation and his ability to uncover the stories behind first impressions and long-held perceptions.    The conversation continued long after the session itself had ended.    Originally, two members of our Executive Board were scheduled to take part in the debrief. In the end, all four joined the discussion, listened closely to the feedback and reflected on the key takeaways together with the colleagues.    Our CMO Dr. Nicolai Johannsen sums up: “We continuously invest in market research and consumer insights. But there is something special about meeting people in person and hearing their perspectives firsthand. Conversations like these add a level of context and understanding that goes far beyond numbers and reports. We received valuable impulses on how we can make bonprix more visible, more appealing to consumers.”    A huge thank you to the participants for their openness, to our colleague Antonia Klein for moderating throughout the event, and to everyone who contributed to such an honest and valuable exchange.    Now let's get to work!    #bonprix #ottogroup #exchange #customerexperience

How is AI reshaping brand building, content creation and leadership?   At this year’s KI:ARENA, hosted by the School for Communication and Management (SCM) in Cologne, our colleague Caroline Piegay-Orain, Head of Creative Content Production, shared insights into bonprix’s journey of integrating AI into visual content production.   In her keynote, Caroline presented our “AI into visual content” approach and how we are already leveraging AI to make content production more efficient and scalable, while continuously establishing new processes and capabilities across the organisation. She also joined the panel “AI First Brands need AI First Teams” alongside Lars Christian Heil and Stefanie Söhnchen, focusing on the organisational and people transformation driven by AI. 🙌 The discussions at KI:ARENA reinforced one key insight: becoming AI-first is not just about adopting new tools – it is about rethinking how people work together. As AI democratises content creation and expands creative possibilities, the real challenge shifts from production to decision-making, collaboration and leadership.🎯 “AI is becoming a standard capability. The real competitive advantage will come from people who provide direction, set priorities and make the right decisions. AI-first brands therefore need AI-first teams – teams that know how to combine human judgment with AI to create meaningful outcomes,” Caroline Piegay-Orain is convinced. Thank you to SCM for having us on stage and giving yet another opportunity to exchange ideas, experiences and views on AI in communication, branding and marketing.   #bonprix #GenerativeAI #marketingtransformation #ottogroup

  • 🧵 Woven into the fabric: the right material is a must-have!   How do you ensure consistent material quality and the right fit? Standardisation plays a key role.   That’s why we at bonprix have established an internal Material Library – a structured collection of denims, lingerie and swimwear materials, knit fabrics, yarns, wovens and more that supports our colleagues and suppliers in developing and producing fashion more efficiently. Detailed information on fabric characteristics, usage guidelines and care requirements helps teams select the right material for every style. 👙👕👖   Today, our Material Library contains around 660 different fabrics.🧶More recently, it has been expanded to include trims such as buttons, zippers and hooks, as well as packaging and labels. 🪡📦   The Material Library serves as a key tool for standardised product development. “At the same time, it helps us manage our sustainability, quality and pricing objectives throughout the supply chain,” explains Stefanie Soltau, Team Lead Material Management at bonprix. “Together with our global partners, we are digitalising fabrics, monitoring emerging material trends and continuously improving our fabric portfolio – for example, by transitioning from conventional to preferred materials wherever possible.”   To give colleagues in Hamburg a closer look at the Material Library and showcase its value, the team recently opened its doors for an information event. Employees from across the company were invited to explore the collection and learn more about its role in product development.   Many colleagues from teams such as IT, Sourcing and Controlling actively contributed to building the trim collection over the past year – and were now able to see the tangible result of their work.   “A big thank you to all the teams involved for their commitment,” adds Stefanie. “It’s inspiring to see the Material Library being used almost every day and to experience the passion and care with which our product managers select fabrics and trims for new designs.” 💚   #bonprix #ProductDevelopment #QualityManagement #FashionTech #OttoGroup

Celebrating 40 with stars: concluding our anniversary activities with a big bang!💥   After many moments of celebrating 40 years of bonprix in the past weeks, we marked the end of our jubilee celebrations with a big event in Hamburg: we invited celebrities, content creators, partners and customers to Curio Haus for a special programme and party. Plus, some colleagues had won a ticket and were able to join the celebration. 🙌   We seized this special moment for the screening of a movie in which famous German actors such as Nina Bott, Laura Osswald and Juliette Greco planned the birthday party for bonprix. Before cutting the cake together, Dr. Nicolai Johannsen and Carolin Klar represented the Executive Board on stage and explained the journey of our brand and shared some personal anecdotes.   Another true and surprising highlight was oliver petszokat performing his most popular songs to which everyone sang along, danced and enjoyed the 2000s vibe. Delicious food, fashion, interactive moments and dancing rounded up this night to be remembered … and, of course, there were many photos taken on the yellow carpet!   Jennifer Saß, Senior Brand Marketing Manager, is responsible for Cultural Marketing at bonprix, including the concept and execution of the event: “With this special event, we showed our strong brand and allowed our guests to emotionally experience bonprix. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all colleagues involved and to our partners – from the film cast, Nina as host and Oli P. as special music act to our agency KEMMLER KEMMLER to around 300 guests who followed our invitation and celebrated 40 years of bonprix together with us.”   “This event represented a strong step forward in how we approach Cultural Marketing and emotionally connect our brand with our audience,” comments Dr. Nicolai Johannsen, Chief Marketing Officer of bonprix. “The feedback, the energy in the room, and the resonance on social media speak for themselves. This success is the result of immense creativity, dedication, and true teamwork.”   Thank you to our employees and partners for you commitment and excellence in every detail – it was a blast! • 🚀 Exploring AI in Product Management: how do you move from talking about AI to actually creating value with it?    That was the focus of our recent “AI in Product Management” event at bonprix. Throughout the day, colleagues came together to explore practical applications, exchange experiences and test new ideas hands-on.    From prompt engineering and content creation to product information management, review optimization, fashion-focused AI apps and the evolving landscape of tools such as Claude, Gemini, Copilot and Perplexity, one thing became clear:    💡There is no single “best” AI tool. The real opportunity lies in understanding which tool can create value for which challenge.    The event combined inspiring insights with practical experimentation, giving our participating colleagues the chance to explore real business use cases, learn from experts and discover new ways of working.    “AI doesn’t replace expertise, it amplifies it. The real advantage comes from people who know how to ask the right questions. There is so much potential lies in combining human expertise with emerging technologies – and at our AI event, we unlocked it with positive energy, curiosity and openness to share knowledge in the Product Management team”, states Simone Pohlmann, Vice President Product Management and Technical Product Development.     All colleagues are excited to take these insights forward and continue assessing how AI can help us work smarter and innovate faster – for our internal processes and for our customers.✨    #bonprix #ottogroup #ProductManagement #Innovation #AIFashion #FashionTech

  • K5 conference 2026: Inspiration, exchange and shaping the future of commerce On Tuesday and Wednesday, several members of the bonprix team joined thousands of other retail, e-commerce and technology experts at K5 - Future Retail Conference in Berlin – one of Europe’s leading events for digital commerce and retail innovation. With industry leaders, brands, technology providers and marketplaces coming together to discuss the trends shaping tomorrow’s retail landscape, K5 once again proved to be an invaluable opportunity to learn, connect and exchange ideas. One thing became clear very quickly: AI was the defining topic of this year’s event. From practical use cases and new customer experiences to discussions about organisational transformation, Artificial Intelligence was at the centre of countless conversations. At the same time, topics such as the future of the customer journey, platform business models and the growing role of marketplaces remained high on the agenda. For Kristina Kolle, Head of Partner Commerce at bonprix, this year’s event highlighted how quickly the industry is evolving: “Last year, I left K5 with a wealth of insights around marketplaces and partner commerce. This year, AI clearly took centre stage. What really stuck with me was the call to action from the opening keynote at Disrooptive on day two: as an industry, we can – and must – actively shape this transformation. The message of moving from insight into action resonated strongly with me. It’s not enough to observe change from the sidelines – we have the responsibility to actively shape it. This time, I left Berlin with plenty of inspiration, but even more importantly, with the motivation to turn ideas into action.” Another highlight was seeing our CTO Matthias Wlaka take the Deep Dive Stage together with Marcel Brindöpke, sharing insights into bonprix and discussing the opportunities and challenges shaping modern retail. As Matthias reflects: “K5 demonstrates year after year just how much innovative energy exists within our industry. Beyond the presentations, it’s the conversations with partners, peers and colleagues that create the most valuable perspectives. Those exchanges often spark the ideas that help shape what comes next.”   #bonprix #K5 #futureretail #AIcommerce #ottogroup
