Today, we are spotlighting our Founder and Managing Director, Adam Bogatsu.   Adam is a professionally registered civil engineer with ECSA, holding both a B.Eng. and B.Eng. (Hons.) from the University of Pretoria, and currently completing his Master’s in Engineering. Since starting his career in 2011, he has gained extensive experience across municipal roads and stormwater, later shifting his focus to water and sanitation infrastructure, including both reticulation and bulk systems.   He also brings strong expertise in strategic infrastructure planning, including master plans, water services development plans and asset management strategies, with a clear mindset shaped by South Africa’s fiscal realities: doing more with less, while preserving what already exists.   Adam’s time serving as a Technical Director within a Section 154 intervention team deepened his commitment to working with municipalities beyond traditional engineering services, supporting participatory governance and sustainable service delivery.   At Bolema, Adam leads with technical excellence and a deep sense of responsibility to the communities infrastructure is built to serve. Water is one of our most precious resources. With nearly 98% of available water already allocated and much of our infrastructure ageing and overstressed, the margin for error is shrinking fast. Despite this, access remains unequal: According to Stats SA, in 2024, about 72% of urban residents had access to safely managed water, compared to just 36.7% in rural areas. At the same time, the civil construction sector is under immense pressure. Over the past decade, the industry has seen a loss of more than R100 billion in real investment, while infrastructure investment has fallen to its lowest levels in 14 years according to SAFCEC.
