One thing that stands out after every NAATBatt International Recycling & Lifecycle Management Workshop is how collaborative this industry really is. While everyone plays a different role in the battery value chain, the conversations consistently come back to the same goal: building a stronger, more circular battery ecosystem. Christina Chilcote, Director of Business Development, shared updates on an exciting new chapter for Blue Whale Materials LLC, including our expanded capacity to make high quality Blacksand coming online this month, recent growth capital investments from Breakwall Capital LP and Ara Partners, and the appointment of our new CEO, Jack (JL) Johnson. Together, these milestones position us to continue advancing battery recycling and strengthening North America’s domestic critical minerals supply chain.

Blue Whale Materials LLC is proud to announce two milestones that take us into a new phase of commercial scale-up. Today, we announced the closing of significant growth capital financing from Breakwall Capital LP, along with additional equity funding from Ara Partners. This funding launches us into our next phase of commercial operations with our 20ktpa expanded line coming online this month in Bartlesville, OK and supports further expansion in connection with the company's DOE partnership. Alongside this new capital, Blue Whale Materials has appointed Jack (JL) Johnson as Chief Executive Officer. Johnson brings two decades of advanced manufacturing experience, including end-to-end management of one of the first large-scale lithium-ion battery manufacturing facilities in the U.S. Co-founder Robert Kang, who has led BWM as CEO since its founding, will remain on the Board and will focus on advancing the company's commercial partnerships.
