When Your Internet Provider Ghosts You (And Your Business) 15 days ago, our Starlink service went down. The diagnosis? Backend provisioning issue - confirmed by Starlink's own support team. The fix? Still waiting. Running a rural web dev company means limited options. We're 5 acres deep in Kentucky - too far out for cable. Cellular is spotty. Starlink was supposed to be the solution for rural businesses like ours. Instead, I'm writing this on backup AT&T service I had to purchase mid-crisis, watching client deadlines slip and SaaS uptime suffer while Starlink sends "thank you for your patience" messages. Today I filed a complaint with the Kentucky Attorney General. Not because I want to - because after correctly diagnosing their own backend issue, they still won't escalate to Tier 2 to actually fix it. The rural business reality: When your internet goes down, you don't just lose productivity. You lose revenue. You lose client trust. You scramble to find backup solutions that cost money you weren't planning to spend. For anyone building rural infrastructure or considering Starlink for business use: have a backup plan. And maybe budget for that backup plan to become your primary plan while you wait for provisioning fixes.
