We recently celebrated the groundbreaking of Oglethorpe Power’s Smarr Combined-Cycle energy facility in Monroe County, Georgia, a key step toward delivering reliable power to communities across the state. Projected to come online in 2029, the facility is expected to generate enough electricity to power an estimated 800,000 homes. It will also be among the most efficient and lowest-emitting natural gas plants in Georgia. TIC will lead construction, with a focus on safety, cost and schedule discipline and strong community engagement. The project is expected to employ up to 1,200 workers at peak construction.
