Players Era and ESPN today announced a multi-year agreement for ESPN to serve as the exclusive broadcast partner for the Players Era Men’s Championships, starting with the 2026 tournaments which will take place this November in Las Vegas. Players Era and ESPN Events will also now collaborate on all staging and operational elements of the Players Era Men’s Championships. The Players Era Eight will take place the week of November 16, and feature Kansas, Florida, Houston, Auburn, Notre Dame, West Virginia, Rutgers and UNLV. The Players Era Sixteen will be played over five days during Thanksgiving Week and include reigning national champion Michigan, along with Gonzaga, St. John’s, Baylor, Louisville, Iowa State, Alabama, Tennessee, Miami, Texas Tech, Maryland, TCU, Oregon, Creighton, SDSU and Kansas State. This week the Big 12 Conference hosted our first-ever Big 12 Medical Summit! Over two days, health, performance, and medical leaders from all 16 member institutions came together with conference leadership and national experts across athletic training, team medicine, nutrition, mental health, and performance technology. Held in conjunction with the Big 12 Student-Athlete Health and Wellbeing Advisory Group, the summit focused on advancing conference-wide standards and sharing best practices to support student-athlete health, safety, and performance.

The Big 12 Conference today announced a refinement of its organizational design to further align operations, elevate its basketball brand, and position the Conference for continued growth. Chief Financial Officer, Nick Bowes , will take on an expanded role as Chief Operating Officer, with oversight of sales, marketing, communications and student-athlete services, in addition to his current responsibilities. In this role, he will enhance operational efficiencies across the business of the Big 12. The Big 12 has also promoted four leaders across key verticals and growth areas, each assuming expanded responsibilities to better support the Conference’s priorities. Kauri Black has been promoted to Vice President – Broadcast & Emerging Platforms, Andy Louthain to Vice President – Compliance & Governance, Katie Ristow to Vice President – Brand & Marketing, and Keena Lynch to Assistant Vice President – Content & Digital Media. Additionally, Brian Thornton has been elevated to Chief Basketball Officer, where he will provide holistic and strategic direction for the Big 12’s men’s and women’s basketball initiatives, partnering closely with the Conference’s Vice President of Women’s Basketball, Dayna Scherf. This unified structure brings both sports together under one vision to strengthen The Big 12’s basketball brand with an increased focus on elevating the women’s game, and maximizing synergies and value creation across both programs. This position will report to the Senior Director – Content & serve as the primary manager & voice of all Big 12 Conference social media platforms - including, but not limited to X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Threads & YouTube. Interested individuals will have an expansive knowledge of these social media platforms, Google Docs & Adobe Software with a specific understanding of Adobe Photoshop. This position is housed within the Marketing arm of the Conference within the Content Team alongside the Assistant Director of Graphic Design & Creative Content & the Assistant Director of Creative Video & Social Content. The Associate Director of Social Media will help drive, support, coordinate and maintain various marketing initiatives, revenue opportunities and branding efforts to achieve long and short-term goals for the Big 12. Each of these areas hold a strong social-media component & these details will be owned by this position. This position will play an integral role on our marketing team with a keen focus on dynamic storytelling, ideation, partnership initiatives & brand identity across the Big 12 Conference.
