💜 Today, we celebrate Psychologist Appreciation Day and the dedicated professionals who help our communities heal, grow, and thrive. Psychologists play a vital role in helping individuals navigate challenges, build resilience, and achieve meaningful change. Their work extends beyond treatment sessions—it helps strengthen families, improve outcomes for youth, reduce barriers to care, and support healthier communities. At BHN, we're proud to recognize professionals like Dr. Alexandra Steel-Martinez from our Juvenile Court Clinic program and Ciara Venter from BHN Center for Wellbeing. Through their expertise, compassion, and commitment to evidence-based care, they create spaces where people feel heard, supported, and empowered to move forward. As conversations around mental health continue to evolve, psychologists remain essential partners in advancing wellbeing, fostering resilience, and helping people reach their full potential. Thank you to all psychologists for the impact you make every day—in the lives of individuals, families, and communities. 💜

This year, BHN clinicians partnered with 50 schools across Western Massachusetts to provide in-school support, including therapy, crisis intervention, and skill-building. By embedding care into a familiar, trusted environment, we’re reducing barriers and reaching students earlier. One example is the PIVOT Project—a non-punitive, school-based approach that helps students at risk of substance use and co-occurring challenges build coping skills, stay engaged in school, and improve long-term outcomes. When we shift from discipline to support, schools see meaningful change: improved attendance, fewer suspensions, and stronger academic performance. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/g2jmS6as

Did you know that recovery doesn’t always start with "going away to detox"? Advances in addiction medicine mean many people can begin recovery while staying connected to family and work, with the right level of medical and clinical support. And when needed, residential care is still an option—because recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all. In this clip, BHN Senior Vice President, Katherine Mague breaks down a common misconception and shares how care has evolved. In the full WWLP InFocus interview, she also discusses the growing need for mental health and addiction support in our communities and how BHN is responding. Today, we recognize Juneteenth, the day in 1865 when the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas learned of their freedom. We proudly celebrate the resilience, culture, and lasting contributions of the Black community. And we remember the quote attributed to Jewish poet Emma Lazarus and civil rights leaders Fannie Lou Hamer and Maya Angelou: “Until we are all free, none of us are free.” While there is much to celebrate, there is much still to be done. And we are stronger together.
