  • It was a great opportunity to present Baker & Provan’s capabilities to supply chain heads for both BAE and Babcock in London last week.

    Many thanks to Damien Chifley and the Australian Submarine Agency for the opportunity to present Baker & Provan’s experience and capabilities as part of the trade delegation to London last week. Thanks also to Jacquie Millward, BAE Head of Supply Chain, AUKUS and Alex Foster, Babcock Senior Supply Chain Manager for providing their time to outline the UK submarine program and the pathway for Australian companies to support the program. Baker & Provan looks forward to working through the qualification process and participation in the UK program. #ASA; #AUKUS; #BAE; #Babcock; #Australianmanufacturing;

    A core commitment of AUKUS was to build a truly global supply chain, connecting Australian industry directly with partners in the United Kingdom and the United States. The Federal Government’s $21 million expansion of the Australian Submarine Supplier Qualification (AUSSQ) Program shows that commitment being delivered. For the first time, Australian businesses will be validated and qualified against UK Astute class submarine sustainment requirements, supporting Submarine Rotational Force – West activities and directly linking local industry into priority UK supply chains, strengthening the UK–Australia pillar of AUKUS. Delivered by H&B Defence on behalf of the Australian Submarine Agency, this new tranche will qualify Australian suppliers across 20 high‑demand service areas identified by Babcock International Group as critical to the Astute class enterprise. Building on AUSSQ’s proven success in the United States — with 13 Australian suppliers already qualified into HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding supply chain — this expansion brings the AUKUS triangle together in practice, creating real pathways for Australian industry and strengthening sovereign capability for Australia’s future nuclear‑powered submarine program. This is what building a global AUKUS supply chain looks like, and we’re proud to deliver it alongside government and industry. Richard Marles | Pat Conroy
