APD Global "The Infrastructure Australia Runs On. For Over 26 Years."
About us
We are APD Global. Australian owned, and proud of it. For over 26 years we've designed, built and secured the infrastructure that keeps Australia connected, powered and protected — from the grid to the data centre, from the substation to the satellite. With 1,100 engineers and specialists across 15 offices, the largest power systems, substations and transmission lines teams in ANZ, accreditation across every major Australian utility, and end-to-end EPC/M capability across renewable energy, telecommunications and OT cybersecurity, we go where the complexity is. Australia taught us that distance sharpens you. Some of the most remote and extreme environments on earth have been our classroom — and that quiet capability travels, with offices across New Zealand, Malaysia, Italy and Singapore. One partner. Fully integrated. Made in Australia. Built for the World.

A fantastic day on-site for the APD Global Brisbane power systems team, as we recently had the privilege of visiting the iconic Swanbank Power Station. Swanbank has been a cornerstone of Queensland’s energy landscape since 1963, and getting a firsthand look at its evolution was incredible. The site’s journey perfectly mirrors Australia’s grid transition, beginning as a massive 800+ MW coal powerhouse fuelling economic growth, before adapting to gas in 2002 with Swanbank E - a 385 MW combined-cycle plant featuring the GT26 single-shaft machine, which was Australia’s largest gas turbine at the time of commissioning and once set a world record for 254 days of continuous operation. Today, under CleanCo Queensland, this historic energy hub is entering its next chapter, with the latest addition of a 250 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) facility and transitioning from fossil fuels into a hub for flexible, dispatchable clean energy. We are proud to have played a part in Swanbank’s modern chapter. Last year, the APD team supported the fast-tracked grid connection of this new 250 MW battery project. Our power systems team delivered specialised grid connection studies across the R0 and R1 stages, successfully negotiating the Generator Performance Standards (GPS) with Powerlink Queensland to ensure a smooth, compliant integration into the grid. Seeing the tangible results of our studies and engineering solutions operating live on-site is always a proud moment for the team. A huge thank you to the site team at Swanbank Power Station for the warm welcome, the insightful tour, and the opportunity to walk through a piece of Australia's power history. I would also like to thank our APD Global management for supporting this all-day event. #PowerSystems #RenewableEnergy #GridConnection #BatteryStorage #BESS

Every project must balance safety, constructability, compliance, cost and long-term performance, while responding to unique site conditions, environmental constraints and maintenance requirements. At APD Global, our transmission line team has delivered engineering solutions across many of Australia's largest transmission infrastructure projects, helping build the networks that will power the future. In this video, Ing. Ahsan Siddique and Edlyn Colaço, CMEngNZ CPEng, discuss some of the key challenges behind transmission tower design and explain why considering the full asset lifecycle is essential to delivering practical, buildable and reliable solutions 💡
