🪄 ✨ What is the “magic wand” of Agentic AI? ✨🧙♂️ Great, I got your attention. But if you watch the replay of the VivaTech panel I moderated, you will understand one thing: there is no magic wand. 🎥 Watch the panel : https://lnkd.in/exaZTE_U Agentic AI is powerful. But companies that treat it as plug-and-play risk losing what makes them unique: their expertise, culture, decision-making logic — in short, their DNA. Here are my key takeaways: 1️⃣ Data is not enough. Human expertise matters. One failure case made this clear: a company used an AI agent to generate promotion scores for customers. The data lake included current promotion scores and scores from 10 years ago. The system could not identify what was still relevant and sent outdated, “old-school” scores to customers. Putting data somewhere and adding an agent does not automatically create intelligence. 2️⃣ Before automating, understand and transform the process. The question is not only: “What task can we automate?” It is also: “Which process should we rethink end-to-end with agents inside it?” Agentic AI should not be added on top of existing processes. It needs to be designed into them and transform the processes : customer-facing activities, internal efficiency, finance, sourcing, legal processes, network digital twins. 3️⃣ Every new access point is also a cybersecurity risk. Agents create value because they access data, systems and tools. But the more agents you deploy, the more they need to fetch data, interact with systems and sometimes inject lines of code. Cybersecurity must be designed from the start. 4️⃣ Agentic AI must strengthen, not dilute, the company’s DNA. Companies that treat Agentic AI as a magic stick risk delegating their “magic sauce”: their intelligence, culture and DNA. The company’s DNA needs to be built into Agentic AI. 5️⃣ New roles are emerging. The rise of Agentic AI orchestrators: people able to coordinate agents, data, business expertise, technologies and human judgment, while avoiding dependence on one technology and making choices about sovereignty, environmental sustainability and safety. 7️⃣ No one can do this alone. Telcos need to collaborate with start-ups. Telcos also need to collaborate with one another. So, my takeaway is simple: Agentic AI is not a magic wand. It is a set of strategic choices: what to automate, what to keep human, how to protect data, how to transform processes, and how to preserve the organization’s DNA, environmental sustainability and safety while gaining efficiency. #SATELLITEDIVESESSION | We recently had a very insightful Satellite Deep Dive Session focused on how satellite connectivity is reshaping the future of the telecom industry. The session brought together different telcos and industry players to discuss the evolution of LEO constellations, IoT, NTN and Direct-to-Device (D2D) services, as well as the growing role of satellite connectivity as a complement to terrestrial networks. A special thank you to our speakers: Cellnex Telecom – William DIEGO (Senior Innovation Manager), shared insights into the rapid growth of the satellite ecosystem, the impact of LEO constellations and the emerging opportunities around rural coverage and new connectivity services. Omantel - Eng. Yousuf Al-Azizi (GM Technology Strategy and Innovation) and Muhammad Kaleem Awan (Senior Proficient Technology Strategy), presented their vision around collaboration between operators, consortium models and how shared investment and partnerships can help accelerate innovation and satellite deployment strategies. Telefónica – Eduardo Yusta Padilla (Telefónica Innovación Digital - Core & Transport Network group), explained Telefónica’s flexible approach to satellite connectivity, including broadband, backhaul, IoT and D2D opportunities through collaboration with multiple ecosystem partners. Turk Telekom – Alpan Akmanoglu (NW Architecture Design), discussed the technical and regulatory challenges linked to NTN and satellite IoT projects, especially around spectrum, coverage and infrastructure resilience. Great to hear such different perspectives and see how collaboration across the ecosystem will be key in shaping the future of global connectivity 🚀
