    You know that moment when someone's dog wanders into a Zoom call, and for ten seconds it's the only thing anyone cares about? We built a whole hackathon around that feeling. On July 18th, AI Valley is partnering with Pet Zen to bring Dogathon to SF: an AI #hackathon and dog adoption event in one, with $10k+ in prizes. You'll spend the day alongside rescue dogs and other builders, creating tools rescues actually need, like adoption matching, volunteer coordination, shelter ops. And if one of the dogs picks you at the morning meet-and-greet, you can start the adoption process on-site! Grab a spot before they fill up! Event link in comments :)

    As we continue building Heritage Table, I'm excited to welcome Disha Jadav as our Founding Software Engineer. At Heritage Table, we believe the recipes families carry across generations deserve infrastructure worthy of them - systems built with the same care as the traditions they hold. Building that takes engineers who think not only about what ships, but about what gets carried forward between people. Disha is completing her master's in Software Engineering at San José State University, specializing in enterprise software technologies. Before that, she spent over a year as a Full Stack Developer at Neural Web, building and scaling production systems. But what stood out most wasn't only her technical depth - it was her connection to the mission. Disha and I first met at an all-women hackathon in San Francisco after I had flown in from Toronto for the week. Over two coffee chats, it became clear she wasn't drawn to Heritage Table only as a technical challenge. She was drawn to the belief behind it: that food is one of the ways families stay connected across generations, and that the recipes we inherit deserve to be remembered, shared, and carried forward with intention. Disha will contribute across the Heritage Table platform - strengthening the technical foundation at every layer, from the Recipe Tree and Living Cookbook to onboarding and family invitation flows, as we grow beyond our first Founding Families cohort and open the table to more families.     My dog Battery has only 3 legs. But he's the smartest, sturdiest, most optimistic little thing🐶 He reads people's emotions. He runs fast, front legs packed with muscle Three legs, and still more life in him than most dogs with four. I think it's because our whole family loved him. Really loved him❤️ We held him in our hands growing up. And when the car accident happened, we didn't hesitate. Treatment, care, all of it. That's the thing: Not how many legs you have. Not how 「perfect」you look. Someone just has to show up ✨ That's why I wanted to host #Dogathon AI Valley So every furry kid out there finds someone who holds them in palm.     I wanted boba and a pink Stanley, so I won Bobathon. My team was just me (a designer) and Rafael Zakirov (a business + neuroscience major). Neither of us has a software engineering background. Somehow, we still shipped a working MVP in an hour. Shoutout to Codex because I did not write a single line of code. What I did do was deliver the winning demo. Wordplay is an AI-powered platform to practice anything that requires dynamic verbal responses, such as: ♥ Rehearsing interviews (you can customize your interviewer's persona) ♥ Practicing presentations and speeches ♥ Running through pre-written scripts ♥ And more, using voice agents powered by Vapi The sessions are recorded and analyzed to give live insights on filler words, pacing, etc. so you can work on improving your delivery in real-time without having to play it back. For our demo, I used Wordplay to rehearse a pitch to an Anthropic representative, asking them to sponsor my upcoming birthday yacht party. Was it silly? Yeah. But the people loved it. AI is making it easier than ever to build. That means your edge isn’t just your idea, it’s the problem you choose to solve and how well you can pitch your solution. THE DELIVERY MATTERS. Tell a story people remember. That's how you win hackathons. and sponsorships. and raises. and everything in life honestly. No yacht party yet (👀 I still think we could make it happen), but I left with my pink Stanley and First Place Hackathon Winner under my belt.
