“You may have cancer, but it doesn’t have you.” For decades, Ernie Johnson Jr. has been a trusted voice in sports. Today, he’s using that voice to help save lives. Ernie’s journey began with a symptom he nearly ignored, swelling in his face at 47 that led to a diagnosis of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Years later, he also faced prostate cancer. Those experiences turned him into a passionate advocate for early detection, encouraging others to act, speak up and prioritize their health and is why he has been recognized as a Check for Cancer Champion. Read his full story and see how he’s making an impact: https://lnkd.in/g7yZZsNc.

When it comes to your health, waiting isn’t an option. For former NFL player, college football analyst and devoted husband, David Pollack, that truth became deeply personal when his wife, Lindsey, experienced sudden symptoms that led to a diagnosis of stage IV glioblastoma. Through surgery, recovery and an intense rehabilitation journey, David stood by her side witnessing firsthand the importance of acting quickly and advocating for your health. One year later, Lindsey was declared cancer-free. Today, David is using his voice to help encourage others to listen to their bodies, prioritize screenings and never delay care when something feels off. That commitment is why he’s been named as a Check for Cancer Champion, recognizing those who are driving awareness and inspiring action. When Bethany, an Aflac senior field incentive analyst, went to the doctor for headaches and vision issues, she expected a simple answer. Instead, she received a rare, high-risk cancer diagnosis that would change her life. Since then, she’s faced surgeries, radiation, chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant. Today, she’s in clinical remission and using her voice to advocate for early detection. Her message is simple: If something doesn’t feel right, get checked. Due to treatment, Bethany missed her 20-year tenure celebration. She asked to reschedule her tenure photo and without hesitation, Aflac Chairman and CEO Dan Amos and Aflac President Virgil Miller made it happen. This National Cancer Survivors Month, Bethany’s journey is a reminder that early action matters, every experience is different and even small gestures can make a lasting impact.
