Harnessing AI to transform business processes

About us

Affinda Group is a Melbourne-born AI company helping organisations create real value from AI across people, processes and performance. The gap between what AI can do and what it delivers inside a business is enormous and widening. Closing it requires the right technology, the right strategy, the right investment and the right people. Founded in 2013 by brothers Timothy and Dr Ben Toner, Affinda Group is headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, with teams across Asia Pacific, North America and Europe. It has been recognised by Deloitte and Forbes as one of Australia's fastest-growing AI companies.

Updates

  • Big news and a very proud moment for the Group! Affinda's Pathfindr has been named an OpenAI Advanced Partner – the only one in the APAC region. The announcement follows their recent APAC Customer Impact Award win at OpenAI's inaugural Partner Summit – the only regional award centred on customer outcomes. It's recognition earned on outcomes already delivered, not potential. That's the work the team do, made measurable: helping some of Australia's biggest brands turn "we should probably do something with AI" into teams who actually know how, with adoption that sticks. Huge congratulations to Affinda's Pathfindr Academy team! We're proud to have you in the family 👏

Last month, we announced our partner program. Today, the OpenAI Partner Network is officially live - applications are open, partners can be found online, and existing partners can access training and enablement. For enterprises, the new Partner Locator makes it easier to find OpenAI partners with the right expertise to support your specific AI strategy, deployment, and support needs. Existing partners can get started with training and enablement on our Partner Hub in order to build their OpenAI-specific expertise, earn badges, progress to new partner tiers, and achieve long-term success in the OpenAI Partner Network. And organizations interested in partnering with us can apply online. Learn more, apply, or find a partner here: https://lnkd.in/gzAPq5M3

The strongest growth rarely comes from chasing the hype. It’s knowing what to build, who you’re building it for and which distractions aren’t worth chasing. As the Deloitte Tech Fast 50 awards approach, our Chief Marketing Officer, Penny Elmslie sits down with Baker McKenzie to share how the long-term mindset of co-founders Timothy Toner and Ben Toner, paired with a relentless focus on genuine customer problems, has helped Affinda achieve sustained revenue growth above 300%. And it’s an approach that saw us move from #26 in 2024 to #23 in the 2025 Deloitte Tech Fast 50 rankings. We’re proud of the growth, but even more proud of how it's been built: through the calibre of our people, close customer conversations and a commitment to sustained impact over AI hype. • If you run an underwriting agency, claims team or brokerage, you know the reality: submissions and claims don't arrive as tidy files. They turn up as packs – emails, PDFs, scans and photos in inconsistent formats – and someone has to sort and re-key all of it before the real work starts. That's the problem we build for. Affinda Platform is production-ready document automation for high-stakes underwriting and insurance workflows. We split complex packs, ground every value back to the source, check it against your business rules and send decision-ready data to your existing systems. Simon Arden and Jake Bando are at the Underwriting Agencies Council (UAC) Prism x Cogneesol 2026 Brisbane Market Exchange today to show you how it's done. Come and say hello, bring us a real submission or claims pack and we'll walk through the workflow live.

The gap between what AI can do and what it delivers inside a business is widening – and working with companies around the globe to close it is exactly the problem we love solving. During our two-day FY27 All Hands in Melbourne last week, we set out how we’ll close it. Day one brought updates from our founders Timothy Toner and Ben Toner, new product previews and deep dives into Affinda Platform, Pathfindr and Draftable. Day two zoomed out to product and strategy, with an update from our AI Solutions team and Dawid Naude’s state of AI recap. And open breakout sessions put the depth of thinking across the Group to work – testing assumptions, building on ideas and shaping what comes next. An incredible line up of social events saw us bowling, devouring pizza and getting competitive during music trivia before we wrapped up over cocktails. Thanks to everyone who brought the energy across two big days! Now the fun part begins 🙌

Most insurance leaders we talk to have run an AI pilot that worked perfectly in the sandbox... and then quietly stalled the moment it needed teams to actually change the way they work. That gap between "the model works" and "the business actually changed" is where most AI transformation in insurance workflows stall. Not on the technology. On whether capability and culture move at the same pace as the tech. If you're based in Sydney, free 28 July and love a good breakfast keynote, this is exactly what our Georgia Newton (AI Solutions) and Lindsay Page (Pathfindr, part of Affinda) will discuss at The Great Insurance Showdown hosted by ANZIIF. Eleven interns. Eleven different ways of thinking. One real problem each to solve with AI. Meet Aaditya Sachdeva, Christopher Siang, Eric Zhang, Harry Zheng, Jack Hu, Jack Moses, Jamie Tsirigotis, Jeffrey Rui Yang Lin, Kayson Wang, Maggie Sun and Rudra Sehkri. Over the next four weeks, they'll work with their executive sponsor to build a project in one of Affinda's business units. Real work inside an Australian AI company, helping organisations create real value from AI. Shortlisted from more than 1,600 applications, they bring an incredible spread of disciplines – astrophysics, philosophy, biotechnology, finance and commerce, data science, software engineering and computer science. The kind of group where you learn as much from the person next to you as the project itself. Welcome to Affinda, team! We're excited to see what you build over the winter program.

  • End of financial year is when L&D budgets either get put to work or quietly disappear for senior leaders. If you've got development allocation left in FY26, it comes down to what investment will pay off this time next year. And it isn't another framework to file away. It's the difference between understanding AI in theory and using it with confidence every day – in how you plan, decide and lead. Proudly part of the Affinda family, that gap is where Pathfindr’s Executive AI Immersion is built to close. Last year's event sold out, so this year we're running two: Sydney in August at the InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach, and Melbourne in October at Jackalope Hotels on the Mornington Peninsula, each capped at 40 senior executives. It's two days of practical workshops, 1:1 consults and a fireside dinner, led by Dawid Naude and our award-winning Pathfindr team, designed so every session is grounded in your actual work – not generic use cases. If building real AI capability is on your FY27 list, now's the time to act on it. Register in the comments below 👇👇

This semester, we partnered with RMIT University to give 400+ Market Research students a real brief: research how young people use AI, and bring back strategic recommendations for Pathfindr. Five groups presented last Friday to a panel from Pathfindr and our broader Affinda family. The student research projects explored findings from interviews with students and early-career professionals aged 18 to 25. Five key themes continued to surface: - AI is used mainly for simple, habitual tasks - Prompting skills develop through trial and error, not structured learning - Trust in AI drops as task complexity and stakes increase - Shadow AI, and associated stigmas, are very real for students today - Users feel confident, but can't reliably spot inaccuracies. That last one is the tension worth paying attention to. Confidence without verification. And underneath it, a shadow use problem: people hiding how much they use AI for fear of being seen as lazy or dishonest. The recommendations were genuinely sharp. A verifiable AI literacy credential displayable on LinkedIn. A guided workflow builder to move users from reactive to strategic AI use. Frameworks for matching the right tool to the right task. These students spent a semester close to a problem that most global organisations are still circling. You might see a room of young adults. We see AI leaders of the future! Sincere thanks and kudos to Anni Cheng, PhD for leading this incredible project on behalf of RMIT, plus Mayling Lok David Soderstrom for connecting the dots at the outset.

  • Building AI into a business is one thing. Knowing where it creates value is another. We're thrilled to welcome Deni Hoxha to Affinda AI Solutions! Deni was previously an Investment Banking Associate at Vesparum Capital, part of the Affinda Group, advising founder-led, high-growth companies on private capital raisings and M&A across software, fintech and consumer sectors. Before that, he ran due diligence on private equity, infrastructure, real estate and private credit deals at Wilson Asset Management, after starting out in enterprise tech at SAP and Salesforce. Now Deni's moving across the group to AI Solutions, pairing his investor's eye for where equity value is created with hands-on AI deployment. He'll work with business owners, financial sponsors and C-suite leaders to turn AI into measurable results across people, processes and profit. Big things ahead, Deni 👏

  • The companies Affinda's Pathfindr Academy team works with don't just adopt AI – they get measurable results from it. That's what just earned the team the APAC Customer Impact Award at the inaugural OpenAI Partner Summit! 🎉 It was the only award given for APAC, and the only one centred on customer outcomes. And it capped off quite a day for our very own Dawid Naude and Chris Hall, accepting the award in San Francisco after putting their own questions to Sam Altman in the partner Q&A. As OpenAI's Services Partner for Australia and New Zealand, Affinda's Pathfindr helps organisations like Coles Group roll out ChatGPT Enterprise, build custom agents on the API, turn leadership teams into genuine AI power-users and measure adoption properly. When Anthony Russell, OpenAI's Director of Partnerships for Asia Pacific, spoke with our customers, the same thing kept coming back: this is a team of trusted advisers, in every relationship they're in. This award just makes it official. Congratulations Dawid and the whole Pathfindr team – Eoin McDonnell, Laura Hatton, Lindsay Page and everyone driving the work 👏👏👏
