Staff Spotlight: Meet Joe! ✨ Say hello to Joe Martin, one of our brilliant AV Technicians and Site Electricians, who’s been part of the Absolute family for 4 years - bringing technical know-how, problem-solving skills, and plenty of humour to every project! Quick Fire Round: Outside of work: Joe is passionate about music production and gaming. Whether he’s creating tracks or diving into a new game, he’s always keeping creativity switched on outside the workplace. Most likely to say: “What could possibly go wrong?” A phrase that probably sums up life in events and installations better than most! Favourite team event: The BBQ - because you can’t beat good food and great company. Fun fact: Joe can make his eyebrows do “the worm” like the old Cadbury’s advert. We’re still waiting for the team demo… Career journey & aspirations: Joe originally started at Absolute in the warehouse before quickly realising his previous experience working in venues and with sound systems made the transition into an AV Technician role a natural fit. Today, he combines his AV expertise with electrical knowledge on-site, and he’s aiming to become a senior member of staff in the future - putting his full range of experience to use, from understanding complex audio systems to calculating and assessing electrical systems. Exciting milestone in our sustainability journey 🌱 We’re proud to announce that our HQ at Meadow Barn has officially gone solar. With the installation of almost 130sqm of solar panels, we’re now generating an estimated 26,760 kWh of clean electricity each year, reducing our carbon footprint. It’s a meaningful step forward as we continue working toward a more sustainable and responsible future. But solar is just one part of a broader, long-term commitment: · Renewable heating – Our HQ is powered by a biomass boiler, replacing fossil fuels with sustainably sourced wood pellets · Smart energy use – Motion-sensor LED lighting minimises unnecessary energy consumption across our offices and events · Lower-carbon travel – We prioritise train travel and encourage flexible working to reduce commuting emissions · Zero landfill approach – Our waste strategy focuses on reduction, recycling and composting ·  Biodiversity support – Regenerative wildflower planting around our site helps restore natural habitats and support pollinators We actively track our progress, measuring both CO₂ savings and cost efficiencies to ensure we’re making tangible, accountable improvements. Staff Spotlight | Ben Sawyer, Installer We're taking a moment to celebrate Ben Sawyer, who is coming up on four years as part of the Absolute team. Ben joined us as a trainee installer with no previous AV experience. Since then he has grown into a skilled and dependable member of the team, consistently delivering high quality installations and bringing a genuinely positive attitude to everything he does. His journey is a great reflection of what's possible when someone combines hard work with a real willingness to learn. Anyone who has worked alongside Ben will know his go-to response to any challenge "Of course, that's no problem at all." It's not just a phrase; it's pretty much his whole approach to the job. Outside of work, Ben writes and records his own music and spends a lot of his free time indoor bouldering - a discipline that demands focus, problem solving and composure under pressure. Recently members of the Absolute Audio Visual Solutions team have successfully completed the ABTT: Association of British Theatre Technicians In-Service Inspection for Lifting Gear training. This intensive two-day course combined both theory and practical learning, equipping our technicians with the knowledge and skills to carry out thorough inspections, servicing and load testing of rigging equipment. The training reinforces a strong understanding of their responsibilities and ensures tasks are carried out both efficiently and safely. As a result, we can continue to ensure that all of our rigging equipment remains in excellent condition, safe for use, and fully compliant with Health & Safety regulations. We’re also pleased to announce that we are now Bronze Members of the ABTT- an important milestone that reflects our ongoing commitment to safety, best practice, and professional development within the live events industry. The Absolute team were proud to be onsite delivering IPUG (Information Provider User Group)’s flagship Summer Seminar 2026 on Thursday, 11 June at the stunning Andaz London Liverpool Street. From early build to final show delivery, the space was transformed into a polished, professional environment ready to host a packed day of expert-led presentations, networking, and industry collaboration for market data professionals. We delivered full event production, including a custom printed backdrop from the amazing team at Display Graphics Limited, 6 metre stage and lectern, along with microphones and a PA system to support an audience of approximately 100 attendees. With a clean stage setup, crisp visuals and seamless AV support throughout, it was fantastic to help bring this key industry event to life - supported by our experienced crew on-site for setup, operation, and breakdown. 💬 Planning an event? Staff Spotlight: Meet Mark Hornsby This week, we're shining the spotlight on Mark Hornsby, one of our experienced Senior Project Managers, who has been an integral part of the Absolute team for over 10 years. With more than a decade of delivering successful projects and supporting clients, Mark's knowledge, reliability, and dedication have made him a valued member of the team. A few things you might not know about Mark: If you've ever called for support, there's a good chance you've heard him say, "Vectorworks support hotline, how can I help today?" Behind the scenes, his personal motto is often, "I love it when a plan comes together." Outside of work, Mark enjoys spending time with his family, attending theatre shows, playing the drums at church, tackling DIY projects, and exploring Europe on camping holidays. When it comes to team events, the Absolute BBQ is his clear favourite. One of Mark's most memorable moments was speaking to Sir David Attenborough before he went live at an event – a surreal experience and a conversation he'll never forget. Mark joined Absolute as a Project Manager and, over the years, has continued to develop his expertise, now serving as a Senior Project Manager and helping to deliver exceptional experiences for our clients.
