Every person deserves a Department of Justice that protects civil rights, voting rights, and equal justice under the law. The Attorney General must be independent, impartial, and accountable to the Constitution — not political interests. Todd Blanche has failed to demonstrate this commitment. The Senate must reject his confirmation. #BlockBlanche

Disability Pride Month celebrates the history, diversity, and achievements of the disability community. The observance commemorates the 1990 passage of the landmark Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which promotes visibility and challenges stereotypes. This month, we're proud to highlight @Akemi Nishida, International Fellowship (2014–15); Jessica Suzanne Stokes, American Dissertation Fellowship (2024–25); and the Disability EmpowHer Network, Community Action Grant (2024–25)—members of the AAUW community whose research, advocacy, and leadership are advancing disability justice, expanding opportunities, and building more inclusive communities. Follow along throughout July as we celebrate their work and its impact.

What does it mean to lead while reimagining systems that weren't built with us in mind? The AAUW Liberatory Leadership Lab invites participants to explore that question through a six-month leadership experience grounded in reflection, community, and action. Together, participants will strengthen their leadership practice, learn alongside a cohort of peers, and apply new approaches to advancing gender equity in higher education. This is a space to collaborate, grow, and lead with purpose — while imagining new possibilities for the institutions and communities we serve. Applications are now open! On July 2, 1964, the Civil Rights Act became law, marking a historic step toward ending discrimination in the workplace and expanding opportunity. More than 60 years later, its legacy reminds us that equal opportunity requires ongoing commitment. AAUW continues advocating for policies that help ensure women can learn, work, and lead free from discrimination and barriers to opportunity. #CivilRightsAct #EqualOpportunity #WorkplaceEquity #AAUW

Today, the U.S. Supreme Court issued its decision in West Virginia v. B.P.J. and Little v. Hecox. While the ruling allows states to ban transgender girls and women from participating on girls’ and women’s school sports teams, it does not require those bans. States and schools may continue to adopt and maintain inclusive policies. AAUW remains steadfast in our commitment to the full inclusion of transgender and nonbinary students and to advancing equity in education for all. Read our full statement: https://lnkd.in/eXrT3A-c

Graduate education should open doors — not create new barriers. New federal loan limits could make advanced degrees less accessible and push more students toward private loans. Read EdTrust's analysis of what's at stake for graduate education and affordability: https://lnkd.in/emakxgQ2

AAUW CEO Gloria L. Blackwell's latest article in Education and Career News explores how we can rebuild the pipeline to opportunity by investing in women and girls at every stage of their education. From early STEM experiences and mentorship to affordable higher education and alternative career pathways, she highlights the investments needed to ensure more women can thrive in STEM and the workforce. "Women are the catalysts for their own progress. When women are equipped with the tools, resources, and support to take charge of their futures, entire communities benefit. The future won’t be handed to us. It will be built by us." Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/eDsKB2Vc
