This week, we are taking a look back at one of our favourite projects. At OneEightyOne, we had the privilege to collaborate with Akoestic Montage Brabant on a remarkable project in Oestgeest. Galapagos is a biotechnology company dedicated to developing innovative medicines. Their office needed to reflect the state-of-the-art nature of their brand. This dynamic light ceiling, with a concealed DiGi Evenlight Panel and a DiGidot control system, was a solution perfectly right for the job. The result is a newly-obtained vibrant office atmosphere, which can be easily adapted to any occasion. Why do the quietest facades need the most advanced control system? The answer is in the subtlety. Most of us imagine pixel control as a spectacle: bright media facades, fast motion, and dynamic content. But the real power lays in the opposite. A single static gradient that goes from warm white to deep blue at the top can make a building dissolve into the night sky. Nothing moves. It just shows. To illustrate our example, we brought this simple maquette of a skyscraper building to the IALD Enlighten Europe Crosstalk table. Without an addressable product, the gradient wouldn’t not exist. Last week, we've had the pleasure of exhibiting at one of the most significant events of the year in Europe. Meeting so many like-minded people, we had a lot of meaningful conversations with designers, architects, engineers & educators. IALD Enlighten Europe Paris has come to an end - and we're leaving inspired. Over the past few days, we've had the opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces, meet new industry peers, and exchange ideas with some of the brightest minds in lighting design. Events like these remind us how valuable our community is and how much we can learn from one another. One of the highlights was the Crosstalk session, where we had some insightful discussions around the future of façade lighting. It was extremely insightful to have a sit-down in-depth conversation sharing visions, perspectives and opinions.
